Why Etiquette Classes Matter
Our classes cover practical skills that children can use at school, at home, at restaurants, at parties, and in other social settings. Depending on the child's age and program, lessons may include:Greetings and introductionsConversation and effective communicationListening and respondingTable and dining mannersPosture and self-presentationConfidence and poiseBeing a gracious guestHosting and hospitalityRespect and consideration for others
No. Dining etiquette is an important part of our program, but it is only one piece of what we teach. We focus on helping children become confident communicators who know how to conduct themselves thoughtfully in a variety of settings. Children practice everything from introducing themselves and starting conversations to dining at a restaurant and being a gracious guest.
Not necessarily. Children can participate in our programs individually or with siblings and friends. We also offer private lessons and small-group options, depending on the child's needs and the family's goals.
Yes. Private Manners & Moves sessions provide an opportunity to focus on the specific skills a child would benefit from practicing, such as introductions, communication, confidence, dining etiquette, or preparing for a group program or cotillion.
Manners & Moves works with families throughout the South Bay, including Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, El Segundo, Torrance, and Palos Verdes, as well as surrounding communities.
Manners & Moves takes an interactive approach to etiquette. Rather than simply telling children what they should do, we give them opportunities to practice.Children learn by participating, role-playing, talking, dining, playing games, and navigating real-life social situations. Our goal is for children to leave class feeling more confident, comfortable, and prepared to use these skills in their everyday lives.
